Awin markets products and services on the Internet for around 15,200 international advertising customers and cooperates with over 211,000 active sales partners. According to its own statements, the network thus reaches end customers in over 180 countries around the world. The company's largest advertising customers in Germany include customers such as Telekom , 1&1 , Opodo , Volkswagen Bank and Postbank , ASOS and Douglas.
With effect from March 6, 2017, the two companies of the former zanox group: zanox and Affiliate Window appear as a common brand under the name Awin.
The company was founded in 2000 by Thomas Hessler, Heiko Rauch and Jens Hewald. The founders left the company in March 2010.
On January 18, 2021, Awin announced that Adam Ross would become the new CEO. He is stepping down from his previous role as COO and taking over from Mark Walters, who will be on the board from now on.
Since 2007, Awin has been owned 52.5% by Axel Springer SE and 47.5% by Swisscom (Switzerland) AG. In June 2006, Awin acquired the Hamburg internet agency eprofessional GmbH. Awin currently employs more than 1,000 people internationally at 15 locations.
In January 2017, Awin acquired the American affiliate network ShareASale to strengthen its US presence. After the successful strategic partnership with the Australian network Commission Factory , which has existed since May 2017, Awin took over full ownership of Commission Factory in September 2020 in order to increase the reach in Australia and the APAC region.
On August 2, 2017, the intended merger with the German affiliate network affilinet was announced, which received the approval of the antitrust authorities on September 20, 2017. Axel Springer has acquired the shares in Swisscom AG, resulting in a new structure. The new company is 80% owned by Axel Springer SE and 20% by United Internet, to which affilinet previously belonged as a 100% subsidiary. On October 1, 2018, affilinet GmbH merged into AWIN AG. Awin continues all business as legal successor. From now on, affilinet is no longer a company, but only a brand of AWIN AG.
